Fear of water

Ginger has been making lots of progress when it comes to her fear of water. Up until last month she would freak out if water got on her face or in her ears but ever since we visited the Glade family when they were in town on vacation, she’s been a lot better. Cary Glade and Matt grew up together as military brats. Cary and Tammi, his wife, come spend a week in their time-share in Palm Desert every year and we all go swimming with them. Tammi helped us teach Brigham to hold his breath and I used that same trick on G. Now she likes laying in the tub and letting the water rise around her until it covers her ears. Thank you Tammi for helping Ginger start to overcome her fear of water.

Ginger's fear of waterThe kids were cute in the bath tonight! Every time I start the water The Boy crawls over on his hands and knees right next to where the water hits the base of the tub. He likes the warm splashes and sometimes I use my hand to direct a spray toward him. That kid is gonna be a fish just like his daddy.

Training for the Spartan consists of running, running, running while soaked with water and mud and carrying heavy stuff, and more running. Not a chance that I can involve the kids in that kind of training. Something I can do with the kids is ride my bike with them in the trailer behind me. That would be great training the 50 mile Tour de Palm Springs. I did the 25 mile route with Ben last year and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was gonna be so with some real training I should be able to tackle the 50 mile route. This way I can take G and The Boy out of the house to give Dar some alone time with the new baby come early December.
